1687 – George Lord Jeofferies (or “Jeffreys” or “Jefferies”) and his brother-in-law Thomas Bloodworth for sale of Manor of Easthampnet. Bloodworth was Mayor of London when it burned down in 1666. Jeofferies was famous in his own right as the infamous Chancellor of James II. This document is unique in that it was signed just before the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Jeofferies no doubt felt a sense of pending danger.
